Year-End Awards
It is time for all IBC members to begin considering nominating persons for the Year End Special Recognition Awards. These Awards are as follows: Fellow of the Congress, Betta Person of the Year, Outstanding Service Awards and Chapter of the Year. You may nominate persons that are eligible to receive the Appropriate Awards. Every nomination must include a brief description of the actions and/or accomplishments that demonstrate the nominee's qualification for the criteria for that particular Award. Criteria for each Award are as follows:
FELLOW OF THE CONGRESS
The selection of the Fellow of The Congress shall be made on the basis of a minimum of three (3) from the following criteria:
1. A member of The Congress for at least four (4) years:
2. Performance of outstanding service toward the improvement of The Congress;
3. Active participation in the affairs of The Congress;
4. Active participation in the local society functions;
5. Distinction for promotion of the Betta hobby;
6. Experience in breeding and showing Bettas.
BETTA PERSON OF THE YEAR
The selection of Betta Person of the Year shall be made on the basis of a minimum of three (3) from the following criteria:
1. Betta breeding ability:
2. Excellence in the development of a Betta strain;
3. Exhibit participation;
4. Results of selective breeding Bettas;
5. Contributions to The Congress.
OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD
The recipients of this Award shall be on the basis of outstanding service performed for the benefit of The Congress.
CHAPTER OF THE YEAR
The selection of the Chapter of the Year shall be made on the basis of a minimum of three (3) from the following criteria:
1. Local growth in IBC membership;
2. Maintenance and development of the Betta genus by a group;
3. Participation in International and District activities, such as the hosting of shows, district meetings, seminars and conventions;
4. Unusual services to the hobby, such as publication of the "Species Maintenance Report" or a district-wide newsletter;
5. Support of other IBC chapters and their activities.
All nominees must be in good standing and also the member nominating must be in good standing.

SPOUSE OR SIGNIFICANT OTHER AWARD
The First Coast Bettas of Florida sponsor an Award given annually to a deserving person who demonstrates unique qualities of support for their spouses or significant other who are Betta Breeders.
The qualifications include the following:
1. Spouse or significant other of a Betta Breeder;
2. Support of the spouse of significant other in the Betta Hobby;
3. Contributes to the Betta hobby by offering their assistance in shows, meetings, or any other activity relating to the hobby;
4. Any other special quality that should be recognized.
Nominations must include a brief description of why this person is nominated.
